In May 2011 Anthony Weiner was the victim of a sex scandal when he was caught explicitly messaging a young female follower on Twitter. When he was exposed online and in public, Weiner decided to deny his actions to the world. In June 2011, he admitted his sexting scandal and resigned from Congress.
After retiring from Congress, he later ran for Mayor of New York City and still continued to send messages to young women.
Bill Clinton’s infamous sex scandal started in 1998 when he had an affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. After recordings of Lewinsky’s conversations on the phone with a friend were released, the “Clinton-Lewinsky” sex scandal became global news. Of course, the same as all sex scandals, they deny it ever happened – but the evidence proved otherwise. Clinton later confessed on live television what he had done.
He didn’t resign and completed his Presidential term and still continues to an active figure in global affairs.
In 1987 there were rumours that American diplomat and US Senator Gary Hart was having an extramarital affair and was meeting his mistress at his Washington DC Townhouse.
Reporters camped outside and caught him and a woman leaving his house (Donna Rice) and when they confronted him, he denied everything.
After he was caught using the services of the Emperors Club VIP in 2008, it was found out that Eliot Spitzer had spent an overall of $80,000 on prostitutes over a period of several years. He was called a hypocrite and a liar.
He later resigned that year after an FBI investigation had claimed there were suspicious money transfers.
In July 2006, former Israeli president Moshe Katsav was accused of a number of female sexual harassments from female employees and was even accused of rape. He was further accused of raping and sexually harassing up to ten women.
In 2007, Katsav was charged with rape but a plea bargain got him out of jail time.
The sex scandal was claimed to be one of the worst to ever be uncovered anywhere in the world.
In 2008, John Edwards was claimed to be having an extramarital affair with Rielle Hunter, which resulted in the birth of her child. Edwards’ wife, Elizabeth Edwards separated from him but died prior to their divorce.
Hunter later wrote a book about their affair, mentioning their sex tape. He was then indicted but not charged with collecting illegal campaign contributions.
In 2014, the first “caught on tape political sex scandal” happened. Vance McAllister and his mistress, Melissa Ann Peacock, who was one of his staffers (and married herself), were caught kissing on camera.
McAllister is now known as the “Kissing Congressman”.
